What does a seven-segment device do?
This seven-segment display combines a four-digit display with a backpack using a KT16K33 chip. This allows for the four-digit display to be easily used and communicated with using only four connections, rather than 14. This display utilises high quality red LEDs.
What can I do with the seven-segment display with I2C backpack?
This backpack is perfect for any timer or clock project, enabling you to host a 24 hour clock or even count down using seconds. You could get this to count up or down when an event is triggered such as someone entering a room (other components required).
What is this seven-segment display with I2C backpack compatible with?
This seven-segment device uses I2C to communicate with an Arduino or other microcontroller. Most Arduino boards are able to use I2C connectivity but you may need to check your board’s layout to determine the clock and data pins. The I2C interface allows the connection of multiple devices on the same communication lines which allows you to have up to eight of these backpacks. This is done by moving address-selection jumpers.
What library do I need for my Arduino?
In order to program your Arduino board to control this backpacked seven-segment display you will need Adafruit’s LED backpack library which is available here.
